New Voting and Nomination Rules

In order to improve our service, we no longer accept email nominations, or email votes, for books in the monthly Book Awards competition. Our reasons are given below and the new procedure is as follows (this can also be found on the website).

To Nominate a title, locate the book on Amazon and find "Tags Customers Associate with This Product". Look for a tag which follows the following format;

tbaMonthYear - for example, any book nominated for February 2011 would be as follows;

tba0211

or in March; tba0311 and so on.

So 'tba' in lower case (it will default to this anyway), the month as 2 digits with a 0 first if needed, and the year simply the last two digits. We may have to revise the year code at the turn of the century!

If the tag exists, simply add your click to vote for it (you may sometimes have to click 'See all tags..' if there are several). If it doesn't, just create it by 'adding your first tag' as indicated. That will nominate the book for others to see and add your vote. NB Please put the current month when you place your vote, not the month of the award!

It's that easy!

Amazon have a 'What's this?' hyper link if you aren't sure and you will need to log on to your account and have made a purchase at some time in the past for your vote to count.

So why the changes?

First of all, we don't like to collect email addresses in case anyone thinks they will be used for spam, and with this system you don't need to email anything. Secondly, it greatly speeds up processing at our end and we like anything that makes our lives easier! Amazon filters the tags/votes which will ensure it's still one vote per person. Voters can still support several titles and we hope to maintain the traditional balance between new and well known authors.

An aesthetic revamp is still needed in the, not too distant, future but we wanted to sort out the mechanics of how it will work first. We hope you approve and will continue supporting your favourite authors.

Please let us know if you have any questions.
