As many of the regulars know, we changed the site name and layout a few months ago from the Amazonclicks Awards to The Book Awards. The name change was because a suggestion had been made that we were trading off the name of Amazon.com. That was true because the site began life years ago as a fully approved part of the Amazon Associate program. We also used the Amazon 'aStore' to list nominations for our months awards. Changing the name has killed any reasonable suggestion that we are trading off the Amazon name. However, the change of layout and ceasing use of the 'aStore' has made it harder for our visitors to purchase our nominated or winning titles, which has not gone down well with the authors or visitors. We have therefore decided to return to using an Amazon 'aStore' to list our nominations and past winners and the site has been updated to reflect this.
We don't intend to change the name again as we believe there are no contentious issues with The Book Awards - that's what they are!
This month has seen a lot of activity and changes in position, so much so that with just a few days to run, I still wouldn't put money on the winning title for October.
